Some of them are used daily for assembling/disassembling of steering racks. The main purpose of special repair tools is to preserve the integrity of components and units and, as a result, the proper performance of the repaired unit.
A slide hammer oil seal extractor is the most recognizable and necessary special tool that allows easy dismounting of a pinion seal from the hydraulic cylinder of a steering rack. There are two types of oil seals extractor – the shorter type enables one to work with the control valve body.
The next tool which is no less essential than the oil seals extractor is a slide hummer oil seals installer. The toolset includes two pressing rods (a longer and a shorter one) and slide hammer heads for accurate positioning of the pinion seal inside the hydraulic cylinder of a steering rack.
Next in demand is a Teflon rings installer. Due to its conic internal surface, it provides the correct positioning of Teflon rings on the control valve of a steering rack. This tool is made in three sizes to repair the most common types of steering racks.
