Special adjust tool MS00084 for the repair of EPS racks

Special tool for repair of EPS racks
Steering play and/or knocking coming from under the driver's feet are the most common signs of a steering problem that may occur when the car has been in use for a long time or under extreme driving conditions. One of the major causes of the trouble is the wearing of a steering rack tooth coupling or slackening of a pressure spring. Stiff steering is the reverse situation that may cause the malfunction. It is often a post-maintenance problem of which either tightening the nut or easing it off is a solution.

However, mounting, dismounting, or adjusting of the nut requires special tools. The point is that side tightening nuts are different in the various vehicle makes and models. That is why no universal tool has yet been developed.
We designed adjust tool MS00084 specifically for steering racks of some BMW and Mercedes models (the complete list is here). The steering rack nuts in these vehicle models have irregular shapes and are made of aluminum alloy. By applying MS00084, a specialist can mount, dismount, or adjust the nut with no risk of its damage or deformation in the process.

If the nut is adjusted while the problems like steering play, stiff steering, or knocking are still there, the steering rack should be disassembled and inspected for defects. It can be a pressing mechanism or steering warm sector problem that causes the malfunction. Tracing the trouble and shooting it is essential. Special repair tools make disassembling of the vehicle units easier and quicker and provide a quality repair.
