The equipment combines two devices: tester of stator windings and diode bridges. The device has small dimensions and a light weight, it was developed according to the requirements of contemporary service stations. The feature of the tester is diagnostics of stator windings and diode bridges with no additional testing and measuring devices. Diagnostics of stator windings is carried out through automatic identification of phase connection, detecting winding integrity and measuring the difference in phase distortion.

A breakdown of diodes (one or several) of the rectifier unit can cause a reduction in the power of the alternating set, as well as the discharge of the battery through the circuit of the faulty diode. Simultaneous breakdown of semiconductor diodes in negative and positive buses can cause short circuit of the battery and, as a consequence, increase in current strength, which, in turn, leads to the burnout of serviceable diodes.
Checking the alternator diode bridge using the MS014 tester involves connecting all bridge leads to the tester using the required number of cables. In this case, you do not need to observe the polarity and the order of connection, as the tester automatically detects the elements of the diode bridge. Then click the "Test" icon on the tester's screen. At the end of testing, the numbers of the diodes (according to the numbers of the connected contacts) located in the cliff will be displayed in the OPEN CIRCUIT window, and the short-circuited diodes numbers in the SHORT CIRCUIT window. If they remain empty - the diode bridge is defective.
The diode bridge of the alternator can be checked by a measuring multimeter in the diode dither mode. If the tested diode works, in one direction of the current the audio signal is present, and in the other direction (the reverse one), there is no sound signal. When checking a faulty diode, the audio signal of the multimeter will either be present in both directions of current (short circuit) or absent (internal break).
Similarly, each diode should be checked when connected to negative and positive buses.
