Controller MS561 is an ideal tool for diagnostics of EPS units. With this controller, we can perform complete diagnostics of EPS racks and columns, as well as EHPS pumps operating under CAN or FlexRay protocols.
The controller will be connected to a previously dismantled unit using special cables designed for a certain group of vehicle units.
MS561 – Operating principle
Being connected to a vehicle unit, the controller supplies power to it and provides special program codes necessary to start the unit. During the diagnostic procedure, the program simulates a real-time operation of the car, its driving speed in particular.
By turning a steering rack input shaft, the operator checks if the unit provides any steering assistance.
The diagrams will show any malfunction in the operation of a steering rack. These readings help to trace the electrical fault and detect its cause.
External diagnostic devices (Launch, Bosch KTS, MaxiSys) can be connected to MS561 via the OBD II connector to do the following:
- read and eliminate faults;
- take readings real-time;
- read information stored in ECU memory;
- encode;
- update software;
- calibrate sensors.
After repair, the operator will diagnose the steering rack again and erase the expired error codes. Then the unit will be installed in the car, and its adaptation will be performed if necessary.
Advantages of controller MS561:
- it can diagnose a unit both in a car (a steering rack must be disconnected from the vehicle supply network) and separately from it (dismantled);
- the device can operate with CAN and FlexRay protocols which enables us to diagnose and repair the majority of present-day vehicles;
- The controller checks torque sensors separately from the units under repair;
- free software and database updates are available;
- MS561 can be connected with the following auxiliary equipment extending the device functionality: FlexRay cables and cables for checking torque sensors, a universal cable MS35670 for diagnostics of EPS/EHPS units, diagnostic scanners, and adapter MS550 for diagnostics of steering racks manufactured in Japan (their design implies the installation of an electric power steering ECU separately from a steering rack with its motor and a torque sensor).
To be able to use the best of the potential of controller MS561 for diagnostics and repair of steering racks, the customers get a special bonus – a free training course from MSG Equipment specialists. Special features of the controller and other information can be found on servicems.eu.
